Physical description

The "Bugs" (they need an official name) are most notable for the fact that they aren't completely solid, even though they are capable of becoming so. The Bugs are made up of thousands of smaller pieces of organometallic material, held together with tiny projected gravitational fields. The level of miniaturization is beyond anything Tartarus (or anyone) is capable of. When struck with solid objects, the fields are repelled from the intrusion, making most projectile and melee weapons pass straight through without any causing any serious harm, though the bug may need a moment to retreat and rearrange its insides.

The bugs themselve stand at about 1.5 meters in height, and are vaguely insectoid in appearance. They have two very long front arms which they keep held up in front of them, tripling as hands, weapons, and shields. Their necks and back are shielded with something that resembles a cobra's hood, attaching to the head from above and behind, which is unusual for most terrestrial species. The bugs are capable of lowering their necks and ramming with this hood to great effect. Their legs are long and more than capable (especially when in expanded form) of clinging onto walls or even ceilings.

Behaviour

Perhaps the most noteworthy behavior from the bugs is that they move far faster than normal terrestrial travel should allow. It has been noted that they can appear and disappear in mere eyeblinks, suggesting that they use an alternative method of travel than legs. Individuals prefer hit-and-run attacks rather than staying and fighting for extended periods of time, though the group as a whole may stay around far longer.

The Sitatha bugs act as pack animals, staying close to each other in groups and favoring battles where they have superior numbers. It is unknown what, if anything, they eat, and their hunting may be either territorial or purely curiosity. Their level of intelligence is unknown. It is assumed they cannot be reasoned with, although they do seem to possess rudimentary forms of communication.

Mission History

The bugs were first discovered in Mission 3 on Sitatha. It is unknown whether they are bred to guard Quantums, and whether they might be seen on other fixtures.
