Liquid Crystal Depositor
I know you all have that secret little fantasy to be the next Vlad The Impaler, and as horrifying as it might be, this is your ticket to make that dream a reality. Big and bulky, the LCD launches rail-accelerated canisters of synthetically-produced anomalous materials in supercritical form. On impact, they rupture with a fairly large splash - and only moments later, the liquid nearly instantly condenses into hard, sharp crystals that have a tendency to grow into the nearest surfaces. While it's rare to get an immediate kill without a headshot, it's guaranteed to severely debilitate your targets with agonizing pain, regardless of how much armor they're wearing. The only thing that can save them is a thick wall in between the two of you - and, of course, your own ever-abundant stupidity.
  • Creds: Free
  • Ammo: Large tank of supercritical liquid crystal with autogenerated canisters
No regeneration time unless three or more canisters are fired in rapid succession, whereupon you are not allowed to fire the weapon the next turn
  • Requirements: Your maximum amount of infantry weapons is limited by your strength.
    Two-handed
    +0 Energy
Takes up two infantry item slots
  • Rolls: attacker's Energy and Conventional vs defender's Maneuverability and Intuition

Additional Details

  • Fires in three modes: Condensed, Spread, and Carpet Bomb
    • Condensed: Less splash, more damage: rips apart a single target with excessive force; uses up one unit of ammo
    • Spread: More splash, less damage: sinks crystals into multiple targets in a 5-meter area, and is more difficult to miss with; uses up one unit of ammo
    • Carpet Bomb: Deals excessive damage (read: instant and total destruction due to crystal growth acceleration from larger mass) to a large area and all but guarantees a kill; uses up three units of ammo and forces the weapon to shut down for a few minutes to regenerate canisters
  • Firing multiple shots on a turn does degrade accuracy
  • Excels against anything up to (but not including) light ship armor
  • Can shatter cockpit windows
  • Obliterates machinery and electronics
  • Crystals have a tendency to soak up energy and then disperse it in a blast
  • Following up with beam weapons guarantees the obliteration of your targets
  • For the love of all that's holy, don't use this thing as a shield
  • If you suspect a puncture, drop the damn thing immediately
  • Could be used as a makeshift crystalline bomb if you're stupid enough

Ingame Example

"GET DOWN!" you shout - and with a satisfying KER-CHUNK, you launch a huge, purple canister of liquid Quantum Glass directly at the beast attacking your leader - and it's a direct hit. You smile with wicked pleasure as you see the beast screech and fall onto its side, kicking its legs in agony as sharp spikes of crystal shoot through its form. — GTD Mission 3, Turn 7
